What you'll need
To make sure your transfer goes through smoothly, have the following ready:
The number you want to keep, in E.164 format. Example: +1 XXX XXX XXXX
Your Telgea Unlimited Canada eSIM, installed and active. You'll receive it with a QR code and a temporary phone number.
Access to texts on your current number. Your current provider will send a confirmation text to the number you're transferring, and you'll need to reply to it.
How it works
We'll email you at each step so you always know where your transfer stands.
Receive your eSIM. You'll get your Canadian eSIM as a QR code. It comes with a temporary Canadian phone number.
Install and activate it in Canada. Scan the QR code on your phone and activate the eSIM while you're in Canada. An eSIM can only be installed once, on one phone, so don't delete it.
Confirm by text within 90 minutes. Your current provider will text the number you're transferring and ask you to confirm the move to us. Reply as the message instructs (usually YES) within 90 minutes.
Wait for the switch. About 15 minutes after you reply, your number moves to your Telgea eSIM.
Check your eSIM. The temporary number on your eSIM is replaced by your own number. You're all set.
Porting timeframes in Canada
Most transfers complete about 15 minutes after you reply to the confirmation text. Until then, your number stays active with your current provider, so you can keep using it as usual.
If you don't reply within 90 minutes, the request expires and your number stays with your current provider. Contact Telgea Support and we'll start a new request for you.
Quick tips for success
Be ready to reply. Submit your request when you'll have your phone at hand for the next 90 minutes.
Double-check the number. Make sure the number you submit is complete and in E.164 format to avoid delays.
Don't delete the eSIM. It can't be reinstalled. If it's removed by mistake, contact Telgea Support for a replacement.
Stay in Canada to activate. Unlimited Canada lines work only in Canada, so activate your eSIM there. Travelling abroad? Ask your company admin about a day pass.
Other notes
Canada is an Unlimited market. Your line has its own monthly allowance and doesn't share your company's data pool. Usage isn't reported for Unlimited lines, so the Telgea app won't show usage charts or balances for your Canadian line. It simply shows as "Unlimited". This is how the plan works, not a fault.
