๐ŸŒ Troubleshooting eSIM Connectivity While Travelling Internationally

Learn the troubleshooting steps to solve the trouble connecting to a mobile network while abroad using your primary eSIM.

Updated over a week ago

Step 1: Reset Your Mobile Connection

Start with a clean slate:

  1. Turn off all active eSIMs on your device.

  2. Toggle Airplane Mode ON, wait 10 seconds, then turn it OFF.

  3. Connect to Wi-Fi and ensure you have a strong and stable signal.

  4. Reactivate only your primary eSIM.

Step 2: Check Network Settings

Your phone will usually select a network automatically, but you may need to manually connect if the automatic selection fails.

Where to Find Network Settings

  • iPhone: Go to Settings > Mobile Service > Network Selection

  • Android: Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Operators

Automatic vs Manual Network Selection

  • Automatic: Your phone connects to the preferred local network based on your eSIM settings and roaming agreements.

  • Manual: You can choose from a list of available networks. This is helpful if automatic selection doesnโ€™t connect you to a working network.

๐Ÿ’กTip

After switching to manual mode, give your device up to 2 minutes to register on a new network.

Step 3: Re-enable Additional eSIMs or Data Plans

Once you have confirmed that your Telgea eSIM is connected and you have working calling and texting, you can now:

  1. Turn on your data eSIM (if using a separate one).

  2. Re-enable any secondary eSIMs needed for work, personal use, or travel.

Your device will continue using the Telgea eSIM for calls and texts, while the data eSIM can handle mobile internet as needed.

โ—Note

If your device is not a dual eSIM compatible device, then you will need to switch between the active eSIMs to be able to access calling and data.
