Understanding Business and Travel eSIMs
When managing your eSIMs, it’s important to understand the differences between your local (or business) eSIM and travel eSIMs, as well as their intended uses. This guide explains their functionalities and provides tips for switching between them effectively.
Business eSIM
A local or business eSIM is designed for use within your home zone. This includes:
Calling and Texting: Use your business eSIM for making voice calls and sending/receiving SMS, including one-time passwords (OTPs) or SMS verifications.
Mobile Data: Set your business eSIM as the default line for mobile data when you are in your home zone. This ensures seamless connectivity without relying on Wi-Fi.
Travel eSIM
A travel eSIM is specifically intended for use outside your home zone. Key points include:
Data Usage Only: The travel eSIM supports mobile data but does not support voice calls or SMS.
Travel Zones: Use the travel eSIM when you are traveling outside your home zone to avoid high roaming charges. Keep your regular eSIM active for calling and texting during travel but disable roaming on it.
Switching Between eSIMs
To ensure optimal connectivity:
In Your Home Zone: - Set your regular eSIM as the default for mobile data and voice calls.
When Traveling: - Install and activate the travel eSIM for mobile data. - Keep your regular eSIM active for calling and texting.
Enable roaming on the Travel eSIM, disable roaming on the Business eSIM
Checking Supported Regions
To determine whether you are in your home zone or another zone, use the Telgea app:
Open the app and navigate to the "Regions" section to view the list of countries included in your home zone.
By understanding these distinctions and following the guidelines above, you can manage your eSIMs effectively and avoid unnecessary charges while staying connected.
