πŸ›‘οΈ How to Troubleshoot Slow Data Speeds

If you are experiencing slow data speeds with Telgea, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to diagnose and resolve the issue

Updated yesterday

➑️ Temporary fix for slow local data: Turn off data on your local eSIM. Your Travel eSIM can support your needs as it connects to a variety of different networks in each country. If you have data switching enabled and both eSIMs active, this should happen automatically.

1. Check Your eSIM Installation

Telgea provides two eSIMs for our plans:

  • Primary eSIM: Used for local calls, texts, and data.

  • Travel eSIM: Enables roaming in 75 countries and may also be used where the primary carrier has weaker coverage.

If your data speeds are slow, ensure that you have installed both eSIMs correctly. If you have only activated one, it may not provide the best connectivity in your location.

How to Verify Installation:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Cellular/Mobile Data.

  2. Check if both eSIM profiles are present and active.

  3. If the Travel eSIM is not installed, follow the activation instructions in the latest installation guide.

2. Update Software & Restart Device

An outdated software version can impact network performance.

Steps:

  1. Update Your Operating System:

    • For iPhone: Settings β†’ General β†’ Software Update.

    • For Android: Settings β†’ Software Update.

  2. Restart Your Device after updating.

3. Check Network Strength & Coverage

Steps:

  1. Verify signal strength by checking the bars on your device.

  2. If you are in a weak signal area, try moving to a different location or outdoors.

  3. Check if the issue persists in multiple locations.

If your signal is strong but speeds remain slow, proceed to the next step.

4. Try Switching to Another Network

Some users have resolved speed issues by switching to a different network or enabling 5G.

Steps:

  1. Go to: Settings β†’ Cellular β†’ Cellular Data Options.

  2. Change Voice & Data to 5G Auto (if available).

  3. Manually select a different network provider in Network Selection.

If switching networks improves your speed, the issue may be related to the carrier’s coverage in your area.

5. Escalate the Issue
